Ask About ThisWhy Families Choose Tao Yuen
A community shaped by the understanding that later life deserves space, dignity and genuine warmth.
Resident-Led Days
Every programme is optional. Residents shape their own schedule — quietly in their room, in the garden, or in good company at the studio.
Mid-Levels Setting
Set along Magazine Gap Road, the residence sits in one of Hong Kong's quieter hill neighbourhoods, with fresh air and garden views close at hand.
Thoughtful Dining
Meals prepared with attention to seasonal Cantonese flavours, dietary preferences and the kind of table where conversation finds its own way.
Small Community Feel
A deliberately small community means staff know each resident personally, and new faces become familiar ones within the first week.
Family Peace of Mind
Regular updates, open visiting hours and a transparent monthly structure let families feel at ease about their loved one's daily life.
Cultural Continuity
Cantonese opera, calligraphy and festive traditions are woven into the community calendar so that cultural heritage remains part of daily life.

Common Questions
What does a typical day at Tao Yuen look like?
There is no fixed timetable imposed on residents. Mornings might begin with a walk in the garden or a quiet breakfast; afternoons are shaped by whatever programme catches the eye — a studio session, a mahjong circle or simply a comfortable armchair and a good book. Staff are on hand throughout the day without being intrusive.
Is Tao Yuen a medical or nursing facility?
No. Tao Yuen is a lifestyle and residential community, not a care home or medical facility. It is designed for older adults who live independently and are looking for comfortable surroundings, good company and a fulfilling daily life — rather than clinical support.
How much notice is needed to join or leave?
Plans run on a monthly basis. We ask for one calendar month's notice if a resident or family decides to move on. Joining follows a short conversation, a visit and a simple application — without lengthy waiting periods in most cases.
Can families visit freely?
Yes. Visiting hours are generous and we encourage families to spend time with residents whenever suits them. We can also accommodate small family gatherings in shared lounge areas with advance notice.
What is included in the monthly pricing?
Each programme is priced clearly. The Residence & Lifestyle Plan at HK$3,720 per month covers a furnished room, housekeeping, laundry, full dining and access to all community activities. Social and cultural programmes can also be taken individually. There are no hidden additions.
Are the programmes available in Cantonese?
Absolutely. Most activities and daily conversation at Tao Yuen take place in Cantonese, reflecting the background and comfort of the majority of residents. English support is also available for families and residents who prefer it.
